For several years the club was known as Atherton Futsal Club (AFC) and operated under the administrative banner of Vikings Futsal with its head office in Brisbane. In May 2012, the AFC committee, dissatisfied with the Vikings administration left Vikings and joined Football Queensland, part of the Football Federation of Australia, also based in Brisbane. The club renamed itself as Tableland Futsal Club, formed an inaugural committee and became incorporated. The inaugural president was Trevor Sorenson. A Club Manager was appointed to oversee competition operations.
The Club has run Summer competitions (October to Easter holidays) and Winter competitions (Easter holidays to September) ever since.
In 2014 the Sorenson Medal (named in honour of the Clubs first President) was instituted for the 2014/15 Summer competition. The medal is awarded to the Most Valuable Player in each grade each Futsal season. Referees award 3, 2 and one votes to the three best players of each game.
Over the years, the Club has had many players represented in far North Queensland, Queensland and National competitions and also playing for Australia in international competitions.
